Arlington Court

Arlington Court

An intimate and fascinating Regency house set in an extensive estate. Full of collections for every taste, many of them amassed by the eccentric and widely travelled Miss Rosalie Chichester, they include displays of model ships, costume, pewter, shells and other fascinating objects.

Arlington's grounds include a formal Victorian garden, a restored walled kitchen garden and acres of informal grounds featuring spectacular spring bulbs and year round colour. Site is also home to the National Trust Carriage Museum, boasting over 45 carriages for every occassion.

  • Arlington Court harbours a fleet of wonderful vessels

The collection contains a flotilla of ship models from the very small to the very grand.

  • A passion for pewter

One of the finest collections in public hands in Europe, our pewter ranges from the pretty to the practical.

  • 800 years of devotion

Generations of the Chichetser family have doubtless loved and studied this Flemish psalter from the fourteenth century.

  • Blake's unique Vision

Re-discovered after over 100 years on top of a cupboard, the Arlington Blake now delights thousands of visitors every year.

  • Flights of fancy

Miss Chichester was passionate about all creatures great and small. The modern estate reflects this with Jacob sheep, Red Devon Cattle and Shetland ponies. The collection reflects her fascination with nature in every form.
