BRNC Oral History Project Call for Volunteers - Britannia Museum, Britannia Royal Naval College

The BRNC Oral History Project, which has received backing from the Heritage Lottery Fund, is set to formally launch in the Autumn of 2015. The two year project will be using a team of volunteers to gather interviews from a number of former students of Britannia Royal Naval College spanning a time period from the 1930s onwards.
The newly appointed Project Manager, Fiona Clampin, has previously worked with oral histories looking at the stories of African American GIs in Dorset during the Second World War, she describes herself as having a passion for storytelling. Fiona hopes through her involvement with the project to ‘encourage others to get stories out of people who have not necessarily been able to tell theirs before’.
The museum is now looking for volunteers, based all over the country to be the ones to go out and collect the interviews from former cadets. There will be additional volunteer roles available for others interested in transcribing the audio. No experience is necessary as specialised training and equipment will be provided, but we would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels they have applicable skills.
Additionally, if you, or someone you know, is a former Cadet here at BRNC, regardless of whether you have remained in the Royal Navy, and would like to participate in storytelling we would like to hear from you.
Please contact the project team on brncoralhistoryproject@gmail.com if you are interested in being involved in any capacity or have any further questions.
