Find out about: Dartmouth Museum
About Us
Dartmouth Museum is a small, fascinating and interesting museum housed in an atmospheric old merchant's house, built in approximately 1640.
The Museum houses an extensive collection of artefacts, models, paintings and photographs which can help you explore and develop your interests, whether they be in maritime history, the social and economic history of the town of Dartmouth, or the physical changes to the town over the past centuries.
From the moment you walk through the door you will be transported into the past life of this wonderful town, and begin to understand more about the strong link between the people of the town and the sea.
It's a great day out for a wet day or a dry one
Facilities
There is a small gift shop. Items for sale include reprints of photographs in the museum collection.
Access to the museum and Jesse Room can be a problem for the physically disabled due to the design of the building. The museum has therefore produced a DVD giving a virtual tour into Dartmouth's rich heritage and the museum's collection. This can be viewed free in the Dartmouth public library which is close by; it is also available for purchase at the museum.
Our Next Event

Well, not Christmas day, nor Boxing Day, nor New Year's Day.
We love having people visit us at Dartmouth Museum. We're small, but perfectly formed. There's stuff for the grown ups and stuff for the kids. We even have a small museum shop - not the usual gift shop, but selling items of local interest.
