Time: 09.20 - 16.00

The South Devon Railway is fully open for Easter, and will be open from morning on Good Friday to the end of the afternoon on Easter Monday. It is open every other day until the end of October as well!

There will be an intensive service of passenger trains between Totnes Littlehempston station, Staverton and Buckfastleigh. In addition there will be several demonstration goods trains operating on different parts of the line, and the very unusual chance to ride in one of our brake vans between Totnes and Staverton.

The South Devon’s London Transport Routemaster bus will be running between Buckfastleigh, Buckfast Abbey and Ashburton on Friday, Sunday and Monday, also serving Buckfastleigh Town Centre and the Valiant Soldier museum.

The SDRT Museum at Buckfastleigh will also be open throughout the weekend between 09.30am and 4.45pm. Entry is free, and you can see the refurbished display of Great Western and other railway tableware. An added attraction will be the Lee Moor museum, which will be open every day between 11.00am and 3.00pm. Housed in it is Lee Moor No 2, a small green tank engine which used to haul china clay wagons along the tramway, together with what is believed to be the only surviving clay wagon from the line. There are several other fascinating artefacts on display, plus an extensive history of the Plymouth & Dartmoor tramway system.

Do come along and see us some time during the weekend. If you come by car there is plenty of free parking at Buckfastleigh. Totnes Littlehempston station is about 460 yards walk from the main line station. There are bus services to Totnes and Buckfastleigh, but fewer on the bank holidays. Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies will be open, as will Totnes Rare Breeds Farm. We look forward to seeing you!
