Totnes Fashion and Textiles Museum is pleased to announce that Liora Lassalle has agreed to become our Designer patron.

We feel she is a local as she attended King Edward VI Community College before going on to study Creative Textiles and Art and Design A-Levels at Exeter College, where she experimented mixing found objects and recycled industrial materials with fine fabrics such as silks to create unique textiles and theatrical garments.

She pursued her career in fashion at Central Saint Martin’s, graduating in the summer of 2012, with a 1st Degree in Fashion and Print BA hons.

After graduating, Liora Lassalle went on to win the Estethica/Veolia resource competition with Central Saint Martin’s. This has enabled her to produce an A/W 2013 collection, and showcase it at Estethica during London Fashion Week February 2013

We were lucky enough to have some of her garments in our 2013 fashion show and in our 2013 exhibition on recycling.

The collection was made using Veolias old, used uniforms, such as hi-vis jackets and navy trousers. Liora was inspired by the romanticism of the 18th century, the lavish detailing with lace, frills, and pearls. She loved the contrast of the hi-vis jackets with the vintage lace and pearls, but still kept her modern sassy shapes and short skirts.

Environmental and social ethics have always been very important to her

Liora has also secured her first online stockist at YOOXYGEN, yoox.com’s eco-friendly initiative, and has designed a collection of jeans created from reclaimed denim donated by leading Italian manufacturer Pier, from the denim brand (+) People.

She has donated a vibrant party dress for this year’s exhibition and will be opening Let’s Party at a private view on Sunday 18th May.
