2017 Lunchtime Lectures at Topsham Museum

By the end of July 2017 we had enjoyed four lectures. The May lecturer was Christopher Woodward from the Jurassic Coast Team. We learnt how the different rocks along our stretch of coast had been laid down millions of years ago and Chris brought a selection of fossils which provided great interest.

In June, Roger Thorne lectured on the Churches and Chapels in Topsham, complementing this year’s temporary exhibition on the same theme. July’s lecture was given by local resident, Dr Sadru Bhanji. He showed how perceptions of the town have varied, often being far from complimentary!!  The talk was illustrated from his extensive collection of old postcards of Topsham.

The lectures have been very well attended and many thanks go to the team of volunteers who help make the lectures and provision of refreshments possible

No lecture in August

Tuesday 26th September: Beatrix Potter, Emma Laws, Victoria & Albert Museum

Tuesday 31st October: Meeting Places of the Living and the Dead, Dr Naomi Howell, University of Exeter

Doors open at 1045 for coffee.  Soup and crusty bread and ploughmans lunches will be available after the lectures.

Lectures will begin promptly at 1130 but seating is limited and as the lectures are always very popular, please do arrive in good time!
