Crownhill Fort’s grounds and museums will be open to the public between midday and 6pm on Friday 29th August

This month we have a special guest, local author Robert Hesketh, who has written many books on the history of the local area. Robert will be giving a talk on Devon's Castles, charting the development of defensive structures from medieval strongholds to the Palmerston Forts. There will be time for Q&A at the end of the talk

Visitors can wander around the grounds, explore the museums, listen to Robert at 1pm, watch cannon firing at 2pm and partake in a guided tour of the underground tunnels at 3pm.

The Fort Lounge Bar (run by Orange Chilli Events) will be open from 12-3 serving hot and cold drinks and light lunches.

The tunnel tours are not suitable for those with limited mobility - the tour includes several flights of steps without handrails and light levels vary during the visit.

For more information contact The Landmark Trust office on 01752 793754. We expect both the talk and tunnel tours to be oversubscribed so please call ahead to reserve places for you and your group.
