Torre Abbey is currently undergoing a major £6.5 million refurbishment with a grant of £4.9 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund together with contributions from Torbay Council, English Heritage and the Friends of Torre Abbey.  The Abbey is currently closed for the duration of the restoration and is due to re-open to the public in mid 2008.  Occasional open days may be arranged.

A visitor centre with free admission has been set up in the Spanish Barn with video displays, information panels, photographs and some of the latest finds. Opening times for the summer are as follows:

2 June 2007 to 1 September 2007: Monday to Saturday 0930-1230 and 1330-1700

3 September 2007 to 28 September 2007: Monday to Friday 0930-1230 and 1330 -1700

The exhibition closes for the winter.
