South West Regional Museum Hub
Welcome to the South West Renaissance pages
Renaissance is the
Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) Council’s £150million programme to
transform England's
regional museums.
For the first time ever, investment from central government is
helping regional museums across the country to raise their standards and deliver
real results in support of education, learning, community development and
economic regeneration. A network of 'Hubs' has been set up in each English
region to act as flagship museums and help promote good practice. Alongside the
Hubs, MLA Regional Agencies and Museum Development Officers are providing advice
and support, Subject Specialist Networks have been set up, and national museums
are sharing their skills and collections to ensure Renaissance benefits the
entire museums sector. Renaissance is helping museums to meet people's changing
needs - and to change people's lives.
Renaissance in our region is focused on five Hub museums:
The Hub museums work with MLA South West to deliver improvements based on the
key themes of education, collections and exhibitions, workforce development and
the wider museum community.
We are committed to ensuring that this transformation will now be
consolidated and sustained, realising the potential of full funding for all
museums within the programme, and extending its impact across all museums in the
region. We want to reach more people, encourage excellence, increase capacity,
spread best practice - and make a real difference. Click HERE
for more information on the success of Renaissance in our region.

Expressions of Partnership Interest
You are invited to register an expression of interest in becoming a partner
in specific Renaissance South West projects. These projects are made possible by
Renaissance funding and by entering into such a partnership, your institution is
undertaking to help deliver outcomes that have been agreed between the South
West Hub and the Museums Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and conforms to
the guiding principles for Renaissance programmes of work which were issued by
MLA. Completing this form does not commit any museum to partnership at this
stage, nor does it commit the Hub or MLA South West to accepting a museum as a
partner.
This form will be used to assist in the selection of prospective partners for
further discussion, after which final offers will be made and formal commitments
obtained from all parties. The Hub and MLA South West aim to provide equal
opportunities for all museums to become partners and will assess approaches
purely on grounds of capability, capacity and willingness to adopt our values.
