Tired of Monopoly? Bored of scrabble? Fed up with Twister? RAMM is reinvigorating the world of gaming this summer. Featuring a selection of games from around the world and across the ages, young and old can play, ponder and puzzle.

Games are an integral part of all world cultures and some specialists even think the playing of games launched our ancestors’ development of language, law, war, philosophy and art. From the so-called ‘Hounds and Jackals,’ possibly played by nomadic cattle herders 4,000 years ago, to the mythical significance of Ancient Egyptian Senet and the Mesoamerican ball game, to the 5,000 year old Persian origin of Backgammon or the Indian development of chess, the playing of games is a central and unifying aspect of the human race.

Drop into RAMM’s courtyard to sample a selection of games such as Dutch Sjoelbak, African mancala, Chinese mah-jong, Roman tabula and ancient Egyptian senet and learn about their great migration through time and space.
