A traditional skilled craft through the ages, taxidermy provides a sensitive conservation service for today’s museums. Jazmine Miles-Long is the ethical taxidermist and natural history restorer commissioned to restore a River Otter beaver for display at RAMM. In 2016 she prepared a sora rail for RAMM’s collection followed by a yellow-browed warbler in 2019, both rare visitors to the UK.

In association with Devon Wildlife Trust and with a contribution from Friends of RAMM, the museum acquired a deceased beaver from the River Otter trial earlier this year. In this online talk Jazmine will demonstrate the techniques of taxidermy and explain how she recreated the beaver.

This talk will take place online on Zoom. Details will be emailed to you in advance of the date. Recording available to ticket holders by request to RAMM until 10 Sept.
