Ashburton MuseumThe Museum is very small and is situated in a small, listed, house much of which dates from the 17th century. It has no shop or toilets. However Ashburton is a small town and shops and cafes are within an easy level walk. Toilets, including facilities for the disabled and nappy changing, are within a 50 metre walk.
The Museum is run by volunteers and while its exhibits concentrate on Ashburton and the surrounding areas of Dartmoor, it does have a collection of North American Indian artefacts given to the Museum by a prominent American, who was descended from an Ashburton family, part of whom settled in America in the 1890s.
