About Us

Holsworthy Museum

The museum is housed in part of a building which is in itself a museum piece; a small manor house dating from the 17th century which was used as a parsonage in 1724.

There are five separate rooms, individually themed, which cover the history of Holsworthy, local tradesmen's tools, medical and apothecary items, World War II and a kitchen with its original cobbled floor, copper and fireplace.

The museum was completely refurbished in 1999 and an entrance porch built giving direct access to the museum from the town's main car park.

Our Collections

In the main room we concentrate on the history of Holsworthy. Further information is kept in the archives which can be accessed by appointment.

Railway

In the first room you will be able to trace the history of the Railway and see how important it was to Holsworthy. There are many photographs showing the building of Holsworthy's two viaducts and the opening ceremony when the town was decorated for the celebrations.

The War Room

Artefacts from the two World Wars show local involvement with the war effort. A mock-up of weekly rations is viewed by amazement by young children.
