By: Michael Downes
Added: 18 January 2012
Two Friends of Fairlynch are among members of the Otter Valley Association who are presenting an informal exhibition on aspects of the Otter Estuary this Saturday.
Susan Tickle, who took on the the task of researching and writing the text for the new OVA guide, will give a short talk on the history of the Lower Otter Valley.
David Daniel, currently OVA's Acting Secretary, will explain the gradual silting processes in the River Otter, illustrating with map and chart, the receding navigability as ports have moved downstream.
A third speaker, David Jannaway, will talk about the Otter as a wildlife sanctuary, especially for wintering birds.
The three short talks, together with an exhibition of paintings and photographs inspired by the Otter Estuary, will take place in the Peter Hall, Budleigh Salterton, on Saturday 21 January 2012 between 10.00am and 12.30pm. Refreshments will be available.
There is an admission charge of £1.50 to members, £2.00 to non-members.
