The Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre is situated in the Old Bovey Station building, which was in use for rail passenger traffic for nearly 100 years. The station was finally closed in the 1960's. The building had some use as a storage place but was then neglected for nearly 40 years. The Station Building was restored in 2003/4, by The Bovey Tracey Heritage Trust and was opened as The Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre on 10th of April 2004.
The Centre is run entirely by volunteers and is funded by grants, donations, bequests, sales and local fund raising events.
Opening Times and location are on the Details & Enquiries page.
THE MAIN DISPLAY FOR 2010 WILL BE OF ITEMS AND PICTURES RELATING TO THE BOVEY TRACEY CHARTER CELEBRATIONS.
The usual displays of THE 18th CENTURY SALT GLAZE POTTERY KILN, AGRICULTURAL, LOCAL POTTERY, CIVIL WAR items, DARTMOOR GRANITE and other local artefacts, will remain on display.
A continuous slide show of local pictures will be displayed.

If you are researching your family history and find that some of your ancestors lived in the Bovey Tracey area, the Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre would be pleased to supply any information that we have and would like a copy of their details to add to the Archive at the Heritage Centre, please email your enquiry in advance.
Similarly, if you or your family have any photographs, pictures, audio tapes, films, newspaper cuttings, artefacts, memories or experiences associated with the area, they will be of interest and copies may be added to the archive for use by researchers in future years.
Please contact this website with details, using one of the addresses on the Details & Enquiries page.
Additional helpers and volunteers are always needed and welcome. Volunteering is a good way to meet local people, visitors and researchers. Local knowlege is not neccessary and training will be available.
If you are a bit unsure about what is involved, please visit the centre and ask. You don't have to do it alone, bring a friend or partner.
Even if you can only volunteer for a few hours per season you will be welcome.
For more details please ring the volunteers organiser on 01626 834331.
