Allhallows museum building
Our museum building is the oldest
in Honiton with an interesting history.
Documents show  a chapel called
Allhallows existed here before 1327.
From the 16th century the building was
used by Allhallows School until 1938
when the school moved to Rousdon.
The chancel of the old chapel is now
the Murch Gallery which houses many items of local interest.

Allhallows Museum is a charity which is run entirely by volunteers.  We work to preserve the heritage of the people of Honiton and its surrounding district and collect, conserve and display items which show how our ancestors used to live.

The beautiful  ceiling of the
Murch gallery was painted in 1910 and depicts  the twelve Apostles, six Old Testament prophets and six saints.

There are plenty of activities to amuse the children. A choice of  free children's quiz sheets are available, with a guaranteed prize on completion, plus activity bags for the under fives, puzzles, books, brass rubbing and an opportunity for everyone to try lace making.
