The collections include Ship Portraits, Shipwreck and Rescue, Shipbuilding and Local History.                                        

We possess over thirty 19th century pictures of locally owned and built ships. The pictures were collected by members of the seafaring Ryder family and bequeathed to the museum by Peter Ryder.

This collection includes information on a number of wrecks, the most significant of which was the loss of Salcombe's lifeboat William and Emma.
