The Museum opens from nid March until the end of October, and for two weeks in December. The Study Centre is open Wednesdays and Friday from 10am until 4pm.The Study Centre also opens from 2pm until 6pm on a Thursday for research sessions with the Family History Research Group. We regret that there is only wheelchair access to the lower floors in the museum.

The Museum is based on the main street of the town centre among cafes and shops.The museum can be found just before arriving at the East Gate Arch, on the left hand side. There are car parking facilities within easy walking distance. There is also a railway station and a bus stop in close proximity to the museum. The Museum is based within easy walking distance of the Guildhall, the Castle and also the Devonshire Collection of Period Costume.
