Museum opening 12th February 2008 - Chemistry and Photography Exhibition The story of the Bibbings From: Fri 14th Jul 2006 To: Sun 30th Sep 2007

       MUSEUM OPENING - 12TH FEBRUARY 2008.

          " Chemistry & Photography" Exhibition
The story of the Bibbings Family

The display includes a selection of artistic black and
   white photographs by Vincent Bibbings.

Theses photographs were rescued from a skip in pouring
rainfive years ago.  Many photographs have also been loaned by various members of the public.

Vincent Bibbings was well known in the town, as was Bibbings the Chemist.
There is a fascinating display of ‘Then & Now’ photographs of the town, compiled by Mike and Ann Sabel. (Museum volunteers)

Both displays will, we are sure, stir the memories of Newton folk, and the museum is looking forward to a year of shared recollections of the town!

The Bible (1633) which belonged to William Yeo (Newton Abbots first Non-Conformist priest) has been loaned to the Museum from The Methodist United Reform Church.  Its
dog-eared pages tell a story itself. This will be one of the artefacts displayed during 2008, along with the GWR artefacts and photographs.

The Museum has Free Admission, and a warm welcome awaits you.
