Find out how animals adapt and grow and where they live in our free, Wild Live! activities, then get hands on with some amazing creatures, including a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, Bearded Dragon, Snakes, Tarantula and Giant African Land Snails.

These activities are Free and are primarily aimed at children aged 8 – 12 years; younger children must be accompanied by an adult.

"The Islamic Experience"
22nd January to 16th February
This multi media exhibition helps us to understand Islam and Islamic culture, looking at history, faith, family life, science and environment. Organised by the Iqra Trust, the exhibition provides an opportunity to see Islam in its true form and talk to muslims.
Open for school visits Monday to Friday 10.00am  -3.00pm
Open to the general public Monday to Friday 3.00pm - 5.00pm and all day Saturday.

"Egyptomania"
mid February to 30th June (please contact museum for confirmation of start date)
An interactive learning game / event in which visitors are challenged to uncover the truth behind the "Curse of the Mummy's Hand", seperating fact from fiction. The story is based upon recorded events surrounding the discovery of King Tutankhanun's tomb by Howard Carter and the untimely death of Lord Carnarvon. This event is being run in partnership with the BBC and is free of charge.

"Whose Water" Science Fair for Schools
14th to 16th of March inclusive: Please note the museum will be closed to the general public during this event.

" A Big Splash"
Saturday 17th March
An event for all the family for National Science Week, sponsored by Whose Water and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
The event will also celebrate British Tourism Week by offering free or discounted entry to the museum.
Children go free and Adults pay £1 for one day only.

"Outpost of Empire : Romans in Devon"
9th June to 23rd September
Artefacts imported from around the Empire - from Egypt, North Africa and Europe - will be displayed along with objects discovered at local sites, including the skeleton from Hookhills, Paignton. Interactives, objects to handle and special activity days make this a must visit event this summer.

"Made in Africa"
26th July to 6th October
On loan from the British Museum, these stone tools from Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, date back nearly two million years. They are among the oldest known artefacts in the world and are masterpieces of the toolmaker's art. They remind us that human life, technology and art began in Africa. Visitors will have the chance to handle tools and see early man-made artefacts from the museum's collection.

Childrens' Activity Days
Every Wednesday during the school holidays from 1.30pm - 3.00pm.
Join us in the museum for fun and activities to liven up your school holidays. Try your hand at making a model dinosaur, find out all about bugs, create your own cards or make a kite.
Activities vary and booking is recommended.
