Torquay Museum has recieved a grant funded boost to its prehistory education programme. Two grants from the Torbay Mayor's fund and the Small Grant Big Improvement scheme through the South West Museum Development Programme, have allowed the Museum to aquire some spectacular handling exhibits for use with education delivery. The new items include skulls of a Neanderthal, an early modern human (Cro-Magon) and a spectacular skull of a european cave bear (pictured). The high quality reproductions were made by Bone Clones in the USA and will help the Museum interpret its Designated Quaternary Collections with with local schools and students. Bary Chandler, Engagemant & Collections Manager said "We have previously had items like these on loan from the Natural History Museum in London and they proved extremly popular with students, they are fantasic aids in understanding evolution as it relates to the finds we have in this area of South Devon."
