Our wedding dress exhibition is open!

Presenting the ‘Boxing Day Wedding dress’! Worn by Evelena Stanbury to marry James Ley in 1918 in West down (a village near Ilfracombe).

The back of the dress is displayed here to showcase the unique and delicate details of this turn-of-the-century dress. A lace neck, pink, blue, green applique flowers and tassels to finish, hanging from the lapels!

We have a timeline of dresses from this post-WW1 piece to the 50s. The 20’s brings us. the 30’s a sleek and classic look, the 50’s elegance, shimmering fabrics and an impressive bust!

This exhibition is included in the normal ticket price.
