Join artist Stefan Jennings to create your own medieval inspired swords, shields, daggers and more gentle objects from that time. Using willow, Stefan will guide you through how to make these ancient goods and fighting tools, inspired by medieval England.
Willow was an essential resource in medieval times. Hurdles were made of willow and hazel as a starting point for defences, then mud was added along with horse hair and manure, and these rustic structures became barricades. Baskets, fish traps and all manner of vessels were also made of willow.
