The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum is celebrating the centenary of possibly Cinema’s most iconic figure, Marilyn Monroe, born on 1st June 1926. The exhibition, which runs until November, showcases the museum’s huge collection of Marilynalia from the beginnings of her stardom in the early 1950s to the present day. Curated by student volunteers Issie Tween and Jean MacCourt, we explore why Marilyn still matters through objects and images that show her skill as a performer and the resonance of her legacy on contemporary culture.
