John Paul Evans’s photographs of himself and his partner Peter offer a wry take on traditional family portraiture and gender relations, while paying an affectionate tribute to their enduring relationship. The artist has imagined their lives together as a self-contained fairy tale where they live happily ever after. Standing the traditional norms of society on its head, this work encourages a dialogue about self-respect, pride, acceptance and equality.
