There's a chance to view and buy local community art on display at the Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon. The Art for Leisure & Pleasure (ALP) group has a selection of paintings, in a variety of mediums, on display and for sale at the Museum until Saturday 31st October 2015.
This informal and relaxed art group meet every Thursday afternoon between 1.30pm and 4pm at St. John's Community Centre, Whiddon Valley, Newport, Barnstaple (adjacent to Tesco in Rose Lane).
ALP was formed in September 2013, initially with just four members, but has now grown to over forty. The group is made up of novices to professional artists who all love art ~ their ethos is to have fun and enjoy art ~ new members are always welcome.
Executive Member responsible for culture at North Devon Council, Councillor Brian Moores, says: "The art on display in the Museum shows great local talent and if you like what you see then the majority of paintings are for sale so you have the opportunity to purchase your favourite picture and take it home with you. The group is always happy to welcome new members, so if you love art and have never tested your talents, this would be a great place to start."
We hope you enjoy the work of the ALP menbers on display here at the Museum, you have until the 31st October to come and have a look. Admission is free and the Museum is open 10am to 5pm every day except Sundays.
