Exciting News! HMS Terror
Added: 02 September 2019
HMS Terror has been in the news lately, following evidence recovered from beneath Canada’s Arctic Ocean. The ship disappeared in 1845 with all crew lost after a doomed Northwest Passage attempt. The ship was found 168 years later. On Wednesday 28th August 2019 researchers announced the results of their study, which included “groundbreaking” new images from within the incredibly well-preserved ship.
The ship was built in 1813 and Topsham Museum not only displays a model of the original ship but also information about her fascinating history. Come and visit and find out about the past, buy the booklet about the ship, and perhaps have a Devon cream tea using china similar to that found on HMS Terror!
