Singer Songwriter Nicky Swann is launching her new album

'How does your Land Lie' early this summer.

All her songs are based on historical events or people from the town of Newton

Abbot.

The museum has supplied her with images and historical information .

The songs are subtly created and cover poigniant love songs to

rock.  She explains on the cover of the CD where the inspiration for her songs

has derived from; the story of Maud Albrighton whoes hair was so strong and

long the local East Street rope makers made her hair into a rope swing when

she had it cut. (The rope hair was donated to the museum a few years ago!)

Other songs cover the Second World War and the remarkable 18th

century,  diver and Inventor,John Lethbridge- the 'silver-fisher'.

Nicky's promotional film for the  album was made in the museum, and the CD

is on sale for just £10:00.  It will be released on the high street from early

summer.

The museum staff wish Nicky all success!
