September Lunchtime Lecture
Added: 06 September 2022
Tuesday 27th September
'HMS Terror-from Topsham to the Poles' by John Davidson
Following a break during August we will be continuing our programme of lectures at Matthews Hall in September.
We hope you can join us on Tuesday 27th September to listen to a talk by John Davidson about HMS Terror-the famous ship that was built in Topsham for the Royal Navy.
In an eventful career over nearly 40 years, the ship saw active wartime service and sailed to both the Antarctic and Arctic on epic voyages of exploration. Her illustrious, varied, and at times controversial journeys, laid the foundations for later Polar expeditions and earned her an important place in maritime history. The wreck of HMS Terror was discovered recently in the Arctic, but the full details of her final voyage are still shrouded in mystery.
Doors open at 11.45 and the lecture will start at 12 noon. £3 payable at the door.
