Ilfracombe Museum is full of the weird and the wonderful with a surprising range of exhibits, including two headed kitten, taxidermy, a shrunken head, bugs , butterflies and much more!

The Stay Curious project -made possible with the support of ArtFund - is inspired by our curious and amazing collection and we have developed an exciting programme of activities and events for families and children between now and the end of June.

Pip and Kim are two young explorers who are on a mission to find out all about nature’s most weird and wonderful creatures... and they want you to join them on their adventures!

Pip and Kim’s Great Uncle Mervyn was a famous explorer who came to live in Ilfracombe. In 1932 he founded Ilfracombe Museum filling it with weird and wonderful exhibits from around the world.

Join Pip & Kim and our artist in residence, Mandi, to discover the wonders of the natural world. Our exciting activities include activity sheets for drawing and colouring, making your own field notebook, going on a bug hunt and making your own weird and wonderful museum specimen. You can even have a go at making your own shrunken head!

Have a go at our Butterfly wings design competition - for 13 to 19 year olds
