Seaweed is a feature of the British coastline and not only does it have many culinary uses it is also valued for its properties in beauty products. Our workshop will show you a variety of common local seaweeds and how they can be prepared and used in cosmetics. From the familiar popping bladderwrack to the large oarweed, they are rich in minerals and nutrients and make a marvellous addition to soaps, bath salts and other products.

You will get a chance to make bath bombs and bath salts using seaweed, herbs, flowers and beautiful essential oils, perfect for Christmas presents with a twist.

Sarah Harper owns The Clovelly Soap Company, a family-run business based in the picturesque Cliffside village of Clovelly on the North Devon coast. They make a large range of natural soaps, candles, bath and beauty products in their studio above the village. These are sold from their shop and various stockists throughout the world as well as online. Local beaches provide a variety of seaweeds which they are able to dry and use in their soaps and other beauty products.

Tickets are available online or from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum reception in person or by phone using a credit or debit card on 01392 265858 during opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
