Amy Bond's work experience at the museum
I really enjoyed my work experience week and never realised
that there was so much involved in organising a museum. I liked working with a volunteer when we planned a display and wrote draft blurbs for the Diamond Jubilee and searched for some artefacts relating to the Queen and her Coronation. I also enjoyed looking at some other artefacts, including a wedding dress from the 1800s, meeting the different volunteers every day and seeing what they do to help run the museum and creating a booklet to help guide the volunteers in using the simulator that is in the museum.
I am very grateful to Felicity Cole for helping me during my
work experience week. I came away having learnt a lot about how a museum works and I am hoping to volunteer in the summer holidays to find out more.
