Ashburton station model in operation - South Devon Railway
01 November 2012 03 November 2012When: 01 November 2012 to 03 November 2012
Where: South Devon Railway Museum, Buckfastleigh
Chris Lamacraft’s celebrated model of Ashburton station, now a permanent resident of the South Devon Railway Museum at Buckfastleigh, will be operating for the final time this season on Thursday 01 November and Saturday 03 November. The layout is built to a scale of 4mm to 1ft, and to a very fine scale. It depicts Ashburton station as it was in the years during the Second World War.
The SDR Museum is on the platform at Buckfastleigh station, and entry is free. Sunday 05 November is the last day of the public train service for the 2012 season, although a variety of services will run between now and the end of the year, including the ever-popular Santa Specials. As an added incentive to visit this weekend, train fares will be half price on Saturday and Sunday. Advance booking is not necessary – just turn up at Totnes Littlehempston, Staverton or Buckfastleigh stations.
