We regret that this meeting and the remainder of our programme this spring are cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. We hope to reschedule it for September, and will keep you updated.

The next in the regular series of SDRT Museum Thursday evening social events will be held on 26 March, at Buckfastleigh Town Hall. The title of the event is Black by Day and Red by Night, and it is an illustrated tour of two of the Black Country’s best museums: Blists Hill and The Black Country Museum. Blists Hill is part of the Ironbridge World Heritage Site, which has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, with the dreadful flooding by the river Severn. Blists Hill is higher up the valley, and presents a stunning view of the magnificent industrial heritage of the area. The Black Country Museum, at Dudley, is a recreated townscape with its own trams and trolleybuses, and is also fully immersive – you go into the streetscapes and industrial areas and become part of them.

The evening will be presented by Sarah Harvey, brought up in the Black Country and a stunningly good photographer. It is guaranteed to be an evening with lots of information and a superb set of pictures: definitely not to be missed.

As usual, doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. The meeting will be held in Buckfastleigh Town Hall: parking is available in both the Victoria Woodholme and Mardle Way car parks. Entry to the meeting is free. Refreshments and a prize draw will also be available, so do come along and join us – you will be very welcome.
