The Christmas season in Elizabethan Devon was transformed from the Catholic traditions of the early 1500s to the Puritans’ restrictions a century later. Documentary evidence illustrates how life carried on in Devon during Elizabeth’s long reign.
Historian and author Todd Gray shows how church fittings provided a visual backdrop to the festivities. He describes a period with church, family and celebration – and without holiday cards, Christmas trees or outdoor festive lighting.
You will be emailed details on how to access this Zoom talk nearer to the event. Recording available to ticket holders by request to RAMM until 22 December
