Lyme Regis Museum has a non-stop programme for Fossil Festival weekend.
Chris Paul will talk about the unexpectedly exciting lives of ammonites; Tom Sharpe from National Museum of Wales is lending archive material on Mary Anning's fossil-hunting men-friends for the weekend, and will give an insight into the relationships between them; there is a performance of some outrageous comic verse about William Buckland; and the museum’s own staff, Paddy Howe, Chris Andrew, Ben Brookes and Harry Earnshaw will be helping visitors find fossils on the beach and polish ammonites to take home. Natalie Manifold will guide a walk of the town in the footsteps of Mary Anning; and in the marquee, Phil Anslow will provide plaster casts of fossils for children to paint and take away.
