Pressure groups usually have more enthusiasm and imagination than money, so creativity is at a premium. This event will look at how various groups have used logos, typefaces, graphics, banners, texts, art installations, actions and theatre to put across their messages.
Mark Haworth-Booth is a North Devon District councillor, a writer and an activist with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (which he chairs) and Extinction Rebellion, for which he has served as a local coordinator, a legal observe and a steward.
Mark will be joined by his daughters Alice and Emily Haworth-Booth, award-winning authors of the children’s book Protest! How People Have Come Together to Change the World (Pavilion, 2021), which they co-wrote, illustrated and designed. They have been active in protest movements since the mid-2000s and have exhibited their book works and banners at the Plough.
The talk will take place from 2pm – 3:30pm and tickets are FREE.
