WAR OF 1812 - Dartmoor Prison Museum
By: B Dingle
Added: 18 June 2012
This summer has seen the passing of 200 years from when President Madison delared war on our King George, which ultimately saw the arrival of 6500 American Prisoner's Of War here when Dartmoor was a Depot built to accomodate both them and the French who had arrived in May 1809.
The Americans did not arrive at Dartmoor until April 1813, and therefore we expect some American interest in April and June next year.
