Arranged by the Museum Volunteers
Something for everyone!
'The Bradley Nymphs' were re-incarnated for the museum WWI commemorative event on the 1st July. The original little dancers performed for the wounded soldiers from the VAD Hospital in Newton Abbot in the Great War. The modern Nymphs are pupils from the Deborah Bond Dance Academy in Newton Abbot. The youngest dancer was 5 years old. They stole the show!
Two performances were given, which included the winners of the Museums WWI Creative writing competitions. Adults,12-15 year olds and 8-11 year olds all read their winning pieces to a large audience.
WWI songs were sung by soloists and Choir '86, as well as community singing with the audience. The NEWTS (the junior section of the District Musical Comedy Society) gave short drama performances based on historical information surrounding the VAD Hospital.
We were delighted that Adrienne Howells,of the 'We will remember them' poppy banner , joined us for the day. People were able to add their ancestors name to the ever growing poppies being sewn onto her banner. Adrienne also brought a selection of her WWI items along which were of great interest to everyone.
This was all followed by home-made cakes and tea, and a great time was had by all!
