Snippets of Dreadnought SW production of their play 'Oxygen' were performed at the launch of the Museum's display on Newton Abbot's connections with Women's Suffrage.
Newton Abbot Town Mayor, Cllr Louise Cooke, officially opened the exhibition. She reminded us how far women had come in the last 100 years.
The performance by the the Oxygen players was electric and encourage many to attend the full production the following evening at the Carlton Theatre in Teignmouth.
Women walked from Lands End to London, stopping in Newton Abbot (and many other towns on the way) 75,000 women gathered in Hyde Park to ask for the chance to Vote.
Please note, due to the lack of space in the museum for temporary exhibitions, the Suffrage exhibition is being displayed in the Council Chamber. The display is available only if the room is free. To avoid any dissapointment do ring the museum first to see if the display is available. 01626-201121.
