Totnes Museum Society has today published it's autumn/winter talks programme and, hopefully, there is something for everyone! The Society meets every second Thursday in the month from October to May. Visitors are welcome to join us at the Methodist Hall in Fore Street, Totnes from 7.30 pm.

We start on October 13th with the AGM and then a talk by Julian Wright and James Bellchambers about the 'Lost Manor of Northford' in Totnes.

On November 10th it's the turn of Sarah Orme to give us 'The History of Gardens' and, in the run up to Christmas, it's Bob Mann and 'Footprints of a Gigantic Hound' coming your way on December 8th. He will be looking at Dartmoor in Fiction from Anna Eliza Bray to Laurie R.King.

Into the New Year and on January 12th, 2012, Tom Greeves presents 'Landscape and the Picturesque' with an illustrated look at photographing Dartmoor in the 1860's and 1870's.

February 9th and John Risdon will be looking at 'Tidal Dart - a thousand year journey up the Dart' which is followed on March 8th by the Rev Nicholas Pearkes and 'Pen Pecca: the lost mine of Landscove.'

Into April and on the 12th John Smith from Torbay Metal Detectors Club illustrates their 'finds' with 'Treasures beneath our feet.'

Finally on May 12th it's 'Thingyamyjigs and Whatchmacallits' as we round off the lecture season with a social evening which includes a competition to identify odd objects from the museum collection.

Admittance is £1.50 for members and £3.00 for non members. It doesn't cost that much to join the Society. Contact Jill Drysdale on 01803-863816 for further information.
