Salary: £19,554 - £21,589 pro rata
SCP 7-12 (from April 2019, previously 18-22)
Hours: 18 hours per week
To include Saturdays 9am - 2pm once the new museum is open in 2020, plus two other days during the week (hours and days to be discussed). Prior to opening, the Saturday hours to be worked during the week.
Term: Temporary contract: 2 years fixed term July 2019 - June 2021.
Post to be reviewed at the end of the contract.
Location: Newton Abbot Museum within the Town Council, 9 Devon Square, Newton Abbot, Devon TQ12 2HN. Relocating to Newton’s Place, Wolborough St, Newton Abbot in late 2019.

The postholder will be joining the team at a time of exciting change and development for Newton Abbot Museum as it moves with Newton Abbot Town Council into ‘Newton’s Place’ in the former St Leonard’s Church, Wolborough Street.
The Museum Assistant will assist the Museum Curator in the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the museum. They will also be involved in all aspects of the relocation project, in particular moving the 17,000 strong collection to the new site.
We are seeking someone who is flexible and proactive, and who can work effectively as part of a small team. They should have at least six month’s experience of working with museum collections. Experience of working with volunteers in a customer-facing role is also required.
