Publication of Tavistock’s Blue Plaques - Tavistock Museum
By: Roderick Martin, manager of Tavistock Museum
Added: 01 May 2019
A new booklet about Tavistock’s Blue Plaques has gone on sale at Tavistock Museum. The booklet contains a photograph and information about each of the 28 locations recognised as places of interest in the town by the erection of a Blue Plaque. These include monastic sites, public buildings, former industrial buildings, local hostelries and open spaces. There is a centrefold map to guide visitors to the various locations.
Roderick Martin, manager of Tavistock Museum, stated that the booklet has been compiled in response to many requests by tourists and residents over the years for a publication about the Blue Plaques in Tavistock. It is intended that the booklet will be re-printed regularly so that it contains the most complete and up-to-date information. He hoped the publication would appeal to young people, who using the booklet as a guide, will gain an insight into the history of the town as well as enjoying the challenge of finding all the plaques.
Copies of the booklet may be purchased at the museum price £3 or via the Devon Museums website.
