Part of the museum’s free adult talk programme, the museum welcomes Thomas Holman, Director of Wartski and a specialist in 19th and early 20th Century jewellery design on Thursday 29th September.
Thomas was visiting The Wilson Museum and Art Gallery in Cheltenham when he spotted a beautiful carved horn hair comb decorated with moonstones and enamel in the Art Nouveau style. He immediately thought it was by a Parisian master, such as René Lalique or Lucien Gaillard. He was therefore shocked to read the name on the label, ‘Frederick Partridge’. His interest was piqued – who was Frederick Partridge and how did this boy from Barnstaple come to create such a piece?
Come and find out more about Frederick Partridge and his life outside of Barnstaple.
6pm – 7pm
To book your tickets please visit the museum What's On page.
You will also have the chance to explore our new exhibition ‘The Partridge Family of Barnstaple, Ethel Mairet, Fred Partridge and the Arts and Craft Movement’ with late opening.
