New accessible, interactive video display - North Devon Maritime Museum
Added: 14 February 2013
Visitors to the museum will be treated to an exciting new exhibit this year. The museum has installed an interactive video display which will show films relating to North Devon's maritime heritage and its Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It will include historic footage of equipment being tested and developed on Westward Ho! beach prior the D-Day landings during World War II and there will be footage of the gravel barges working in the Taw/Torridge estuary during the 1970s.
The display has been installed on the ground floor to make it accessible to those with mobility issues while the overall project has been supported by the North Devon Coast AONB Sustainable Development Fund.
It is important that this display is accessible to everyone and that the interactive element attracts and engages the younger generations. It is hoped that the films will make our local, national, and international visitors more aware of the historical importance of the area and encourage them to visit the North Devon Coast AONB with new insight.
