Taking a tour of the Totnes time machine! - Totnes Museum

Looks like it could be a record month for 'takings'  at Totnes Museum as August draws to a close and we've also just welcomed a rather special late-summer visitor!

Dr Sarah Woollaston, MP for Totnes, took an informal two-hour tour of the unique Tudor building in the company of Heritage Officer, Alan Langmaid. She's pictured here with Alan and one of our long-serving volunteers, Gwynn George, who ensured Dr Sarah signed the visitor's book!

With heavy showers helping to fill the three-storey building with lots of families, Alan was able to lead our VIP through to view all the Museum's attractions - including its collection of  locally-minted Saxon coins, the room dedicated to Victorian inventor and computer pioneer Charles Babbage, and even down into the Tudor kitchen.

Dr Sarah, who came to see for herself the vital role the Museum played in attracting visitors to the main shopping street, said she was surprised and delighted by what she saw. She described the Museum as 'the Totnes Tardis - the town's very own time machine. Just fabulous!'
